Minister of Defense Visits Orphan Children from Pirita



CHISINAU, December 21, 2011 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta visited Tuesday, December 21, the family-type center “Concordia — The Town of Childhood” from Pirita village, Dubasari district.

On the eve of winter holidays, Christmas and New Year, the Minister of Defense brought sweets and a music centre for cultural activities to the orphan children.

According to the tradition, the Defense Minister was met by the children of the institution with bread and salt. The most talented ones danced for the guests.

Concordia Family Center opened in Pirita in 2004. The institution currently hosts nearly 235 orphan children aged 3 to 18 years old.

The minister also met with the head of the Territorial Office of State Chancellery and the deputy presidents of Dubasari districts. The discussions with the officials focused on some particular issues of cooperation between the central and local public authorities.

The Defense Minister also discussed with the district council personnel, mayors of the villages and the heads of deconcentrated and decentralized services of the district. During the meting with the decision-making factors, the Minister referred to the Republic of Moldova Government goals, mainly focusing on the defense and security area.

The parties also discussed about military reform, military patriotic education of youth and enrollment. The Minister of defense pointed out the National Army contribution to the removal and disposal of pesticides from the territory of the country, the need to sell the National Army assets and the cooperation with NATO and OSCE international organizations.

The visit of the Minister of Defense to Dubasari district is part of the schedule of visits of the Government members all over the country. On January 17, 2012, the Minister of Defense will visit Buiucani sector, Chisinau.
