Sports Equipment Donated to a Chisinau Boarding School



CHISINAU, January 17, 2012 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta visited Tuesday, January 17, the Sports Boarding School from Chisinau.

Vitalie Marinuta familiarized with the infrastructure of the high school, the schooling and accommodation conditions of the sportsmen. The Defense Minister visited the classrooms and attended a few judo, weight lifting and gymnastics training classes.

To encourage the boarding school pupils’ performances and achievements, the Minister of Defense donated for them sports equipment for different kind of sports. The minister also pledged for a further cooperation of the Ministry of Defense with the administration of the school.

“I am impressed by the fact that, in 10 years of activity, the sports boarding school from Chisinau has recorded great performances both inside and outside the country”, Minister Vitalie Marinuta stated. “We want these children to keep progressing and have everything they need. Moreover, I want them to join the National Army after they are done with their studies”, the Defense Minister concluded.

The headmistress of the high school, Maria Gabuja, says there will always be a fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Sports Boarding School from Chisinau.

“Since most of the pupils of this school are boys, they will definitely have the opportunity to study at Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy. I am grateful to the Ministry of Defense for the support provided, especially during the events when we need the military orchestra to accompany us”, Maria Gabuja stated.

The Sports Boarding School of Chisinau has a lot of talents. They are as follows: Olga Cristea, world athletic championship winner, Vladimir Mihalachi and Hariton Ivanov, kayak-canoe world champions, and the weight lifters Ghenadie, Alexandru and Iurie Dudoglo.

The administration of the high school claims the subjects studied in the boarding school are very well combined with the sports training classes. The results of the 2010 — 2011 academic year show 36 pupils of the school have recorded excellent studying results and 64 — good results.

Each year, the Boarding School of Chisinau accepts nearly 520 pupils practicing 14 sports disciplines. Throughout 10 years of activity, the sportsmen of the high school won 3400 medals and diplomas at the municipal and national championships and nearly 50 medals at the world and European competitions.

The Sports Boarding School of Chisinau is placed in Buiucani sector of the capital city. The institution was founded in 2001.
