Ministers of Defense of Moldova and Romania Lay Flowers at Calarasi Romanian Heroes’ Cemetery

According to Ministers Vitalie Marinuta and Gabriel Oprea, the ceremony held at Calarasi Military Cemetery is a sign of remembering heroes dead in war. During their visit, the two ministers familiarized with the situation of the cemetery that was destroyed by unknown persons at the beginning of April 2012.

According to Minister Vitalie Marinuta, the destruction of the graves of soldiers dead in war is a direct attack to the relations of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania. “I think that through this barbarian act, the offenders damaged the memory of Romanian soldiers who did their duty as soldiers, as well as the memory of hundreds and thousands of soldiers of different nationalities who lost their life in different conflicts and wars on the territory of the Republic of Moldova”, Vitalie Marinuta stated.

In his turn, Minister Gabriel Oprea assured the local public authorities of Calarasi that, the Romanian party would provide all the required support to take care and maintain the Romanian Heroes’ Cemetery.

The Minister of National Defense of Romania visited Republic of Moldova April 20, being invited by his Moldovan counterpart, Vitalie Marinuta. During the event, the Republic of Moldova and Romanian Governments signed the Military Cooperation Agreement between the two states.
