New Czech Defense Attaché to Moldova



CHISINAU, April 24, 2012 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta met, Tuesday, April 24, at the Ministry of Defense HQ, with the Czech Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, His Excellency Jaromir Kvapil, who introduced Col. Jiri Kares, the new Czech defense attaché to the Republic of Moldova, based in Kiev.

The Defense Minister congratulated Col. Jiri Kares on his assignment and wished him success the activity. Vitalie Marinuta stated the friendship relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Czech Republic are a good premise for the development of bilateral cooperation based on principles of equality and mutual respect.

In his turn, Col. Jiri Kares said that being a Czech defense attaché to Moldova is a great honor for him and his country would keep building the successful partnership with the Republic of Moldova.

At the end of the meeting, the parties appreciated the opportunity to exchange opinions and pledged for the promotion of mutually profitable bilateral relations. Moldova and Czech Republic partnership was established on February 23, 1993, and the Moldovan-Czech defense cooperation started in 1998.

This is the first visit of the Czech defense attaché to the Republic of Moldova. Col. Jiri Kares is 48. He is married and has a son. Before his assignment, the official duties of defense attaché were fulfilled by Col. Zdenek Kubicek.
