Active-duty and Retired Servicemen Military Cooperation

CHISINAU, June 7, 2012 — The veterans of the Armed Forces need to have a strong and active association that would develop the retired officers’ professional experience that promote patriotic values along with the Ministry of Defense, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta stated during the meeting of the Ministry’s of Defense Military Council.

“Over the past few years, there have been a strong cooperation relationship between the Ministry of Defense and some central organizations of veterans. However, this goal has not been achieved at the local level. I think the organization should work in this area, in order for military centers and military units of the National Army to be transparent enough as far as the above issues are concerned”, Minister Vitalie Marinuta stated.

Col. Tudor Samoilenco (Ret.), Head of the Federation of Retired Servicemen and Veterans Associations (FRSVA) of the Moldovan Armed Forces, pointed out that, the well-prepared human potential is not properly used either in the educational process of the young generation, or in the development of the structure.

“All the gaps in the activity of the federation can be removed by persuading retired officers with high professional and humanitarian experience over the past few years to join the organization”, Samoilenco said. He also asked the Ministry of Defense for the improvement and reform of this institution.

The parties also reviewed the results, problems and perspectives of cooperation between the military institution and the Federation of Retired Servicemen and Veterans Associations (FRSVA) of the Moldovan Armed Forces and set the joint trends and responsibilities meant to improve the activity of the organization.

The participants in the Ministry’s of Defense Military Council decided to hold a joint meeting of the two institutions at the end of June, within which the parties will identify new ways of cooperation.
