Moldovan Hungarian Meeting at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, July 25, 2012 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta met Wednesday, July 25, with Ambassador Istvan Gyarmati, President of the International Centre for Democratic Transition (ICDT) from Budapest, Hungary, as part of the ambassador’s familiarization visit to the Republic of Moldova.

Vitalie Marinuta informed the Hungarian official about the projects carried out in the security and defense area, with a focus on the review of the National Security Strategy and the National Defense Strategy.

Vitalie Marinuta thanked Ambassador Istvan Gyarmati for the intention to contribute to the settlement of the Republic of Moldova problems in term of defense reform and the support provided for the implementation of the Community of Democracies Program “Democracy Partnership Challenge”.

In his turn, Istvan Gyarmati stated the organization he presents has security and defense experts always ready to provide all the required expertise and support to the Moldovan party in this area. The official is confident about the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to supporting the work group activity in term of the reform of the security area as part of “Democracy Partnership Challenge” Program, implemented in our country.

The meeting of the officials is part of the implementation of the Program of Assistance in the framework of the Community of Democracies and aims at identifying projects to be funded and implemented in the defense and security reform area with the support of ICDT .
