National Army EOD Engineers Blow Up 360 Explosives in JulyCHISINAU, July 30, 2012 — National Army EOD engineers blew up 360 explosive devices in July in Criuleni, Cahul, Hincesti, Ialoveni, Stefan Voda, Nisporeni, Soroca and Anenii Noi districts. According to Cpt. Nicolae Teleghin, specialist, EOD Service of Land Force Command, in this period of time, carried out 24 mine disposal missions, destroying explosive devices, mostly bombs and different caliber bullets. The latest discovery of ammunition dating back to Second World War was recorded in Leca village, Cantemir. The local citizens informed the police after they had found a few unidentified objects on the bank of the Prut River. The pioneer team headed by Maj. Ghenadie Bulgac from Dacia Brigade, Cahul, went to the very place, where they discovered two artillery projectiles of 152 mm caliber dating back to Second World War. The projectiles were destroyed on the very place because of security reasons, for their transportation could have been a threat to the EOD engineers’ life. Cpt. Teleghin specified that, this year, the National Army carried out 142 mine disposal missions and liquidated 1743 explosive devices in different parts of the country. |
