National Army Participates at Combined Endeavor 2012

CHISINAU, September 7, 2012 — The National Army servicemen participate at the Partnership for Peace multinational exercise “Combined Endeavor 2012”, held September 6-12 on Aachen military training ground in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

According to LTC Oleg Guzun, leader of the Moldovan contingent, “Combined Endeavor 2012” exercise aims at reaching an appropriate level of operative, technical, software and information security compatibility through different automatic command and control information systems in humanitarian, peacekeeping and relief operations.

LTC Guzun specified that the Moldovans’ participation at “Combined Endeavor” is a great opportunity to test the compatibility between the National Army communications and computer equipment and the one of NATO states and its partner countries. “Our participation at this exercise will help us practice and improve our skills of communication and computer equipment use, as well as the use of defense information system at the international level to achieve the National Army goals”, the leader of the Moldovan contingent said.

This year, the exercise brought together representatives of over 40 countries. Republic of Moldova deployed 15 communication experts of the Communication and Information Systems Directorate, the Communication and Computer System Center, as well as military units of the National Army.

The National Army joined Combined Endeavor exercise in 1998 as an observer. In 1991, Moldovan servicemen actively engaged in the exercise.
