“Credinta Patriei” Order Awarded to Military Academy



CHISINAU, October 13, 2012 — The President of the Republic of Moldova, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, awarded the state order “Credinta Patriei” (Loyalty to Motherland), 1st class, to the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, as a sign of appreciation of the outstanding merits in the development of the higher military education and the education of the young generation’s commitment for the Fatherland and Nation, during an official ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the Military Academy held Saturday, October 13.

The Republic of Moldova President, Nicolae Timofti, stated that service members are a model of discipline and seriousness for our society, hoping that the students of the Military Academy are the ones to build the future of the Armed Forces through commitment and assiduity. “The National Army will develop through your understanding of the role the army plays within a state. I am confident that you, military students, will implement the best existent practices you get in the defense area, thus contributing to the development and consolidation of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova”, the head of the country said.

The ceremony brought together Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta, the National Army leadership, defense attaches to Republic of Moldova, former commanders of the institution, students’ relatives and other people willing to acquaint with the infrastructure, equipment and organization of Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy.

On the 20th anniversary of the institution, the guests had the possibility to watch some exhibitions of technical and military equipment, as well as wrestling and weapon handling techniques demonstrated by the military students. The anniversary ceremony program also included the inauguration of a mini-football field for the students of Alexandru cel Bun Academy.

Col. Mihail Buclis, commander-rector of the academy, stated that the young men of the institution study infantry, artillery and communications. So far, about 1375 lieutenants graduated from the Academy. All of them currently work in the National Army units. In 2012, nine girls were admitted at the Academy to study communications.

The Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” runs the Centre for Defense and Security Strategic Studies, the Continuous Training Center and the Linguistic Center. The academy has eight chairs and 117 professors with different scientific titles, that train 477 military students.
