„Fulger” – 20 Years of Success

Chisinau, November 3, 2012 — Fulger Special Operations Battalion of the National Army was awarded Credinta Patriei (Loyalty to Motherland) State Order, 1^st class, by the Republic of Moldova President’s advisor on national defense and security issues of the Supreme Security Council, Alexei Barbaneagra, during the 20^th anniversary ceremony of the unit.

Fulger Battalion was offered the Loyalty to Motherland State Order for excellent duty, courage proved b the unit staff during international peacekeeping missions and high preparedness.

Alexei Barbaneagra thanked the Fulger service members for their engagement in all the missions in the country and abroad and highly appreciated their commitment to duty ad military oath.

In his turn, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta stated Fulger Battalion has always proved to be an elite unit with well-trained service members, whose professionalism has been tested in different missions. “Your performances recorded within national and international exercises reveal the profile of professional service member, always ready to fulfill any mission established by our state. Your commitment and mastership will be gratified by the National Army”, Minister Marinuta said.

During the event, the unit staff presented a few wrestle elements, parachute jumps on the territory of the military compound, urban alpinism elements, gun shooting techniques and others. The guests also had the possibility to visit an exhibition of technical equipment and weapons of the unit.

The Special Forces Battalion was founded November 1, 1992. The mission of the unit is special research, counter-terrorism, search and rescue, as well as guarding objects of major importance.
