Test for "West Point" and Military Academy of Air Force



Chisinau, December 17th, 2012 —Seven young people from Moldova, left in the competition for 2013 admission at the Military Academy “West Point” and Military Academy of Air Force took the test in physical training held at the Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun” in the presence of U.S. officials.

According to major Andrei Pascal from the Human Resources Management Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, this is an Evidence test, since the basic one will be held in February 2013. Physical training test, monitored by the representatives of U.S. Military Attaché Office in Moldova, included a speed test, basketball ball throwing, trunk lifting, pull-ups, push-ups and a test of resistance over a distance of 1600 meters.

Previously, on December 6th and 7th , 16 young people who have applied for studies at the Military Academy “West Point” and Military Academy of Air Force passed the selection interviews with U.S. Military Attaché, after the interview nine contestants were eliminated . “For admission in 2013, candidates were able to apply until October 15th, 2012. Overall, we received 16 applications. This year, three girls decided to try their powers, by now, only one managed to pass to the next stage. We hope all 7 candidates who remained in the contest will sustain well the other tests, ” major Pascal said.

In the next stage candidates will be tested at English proficiency, they will have to take TOEFL test. Also, until January 01st, 2013, young people have to pass the School Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT).

To study at the Military Academy “West Point” and Air Force Military Academy 6 places were offered for young people from Republic of Moldova. Candidates who are able to pass the tests will be admitted for studies in June 2013.

To participate in tests admission to the Military Academy “West Point” and Air Force Military Academy, candidates must meet several conditions. Moldovian citizens aged between 18 and 23 years, unfulfilled by the 1st of July 2013 can participate in the contest. People who apply for admission must be graduates of a high school educational institution or schools of a higher rank. A compulsory condition for the candidates is not to be married and not to have any obligation to maintain one or more children. However, one of the basic requirements is the ability to speak English fluently.
