The Copy of Declaration of Independence was inaugurated at the Ministry of Defense



Chişinău, December 17th 2012 – the Army is the pillar component of Independence of any State, and there were people within the National Army contingent who sacrificed their lives for independence, so that this sacred document perpetuate in time, said Deputy Ion Hadîrcă at the opening ceremony of a Copy of the Declaration of Independence, held at the Ministry of Defense.

"The Declaration of Independence was burnt, riddled with bullets, stained with the blood of those who fought and lost their lives. It is therefore important that every institution in the state have as its head this document as a lesson of immemorial history, "said Ion Hadârcă.

Being present at the opening ceremony, Deputy Ghimpu, one of those who signed the Declaration of Independence, said that the soldiers have the most important duty — to defend that independence. "Independence means freedom, and freedom is a spring that we must take care of. We must take care of our country’s independence and defend national values. I would like to thank those who fought for independence, so that we can have today the opportunity to unveil this document that speaks about our freedom, “said Ghimpu.

At his turn, the Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuţa said that the inauguration ceremonies of the Copy of the Declaration of Independence took place in all military units and military institutions, about 60 in number. “It is the duty of every soldier to know the text of this document and the names of Members who have signed it, due to the fact that it is sacred to us, and it is imperative that civil society remember the names of those who fought for independence,” said the Minister Marinuţa.

The Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova was adopted on August 27th, 1991.
