The military athletes among the best athletes of 2012 from Republic of Moldova



Chisinau, December 26th, 2012 — the warrant officer Svetlana Saenko was appointed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Moldova among the 10 best sportsmen of the country in 2012, and sergeant Victor Ceobanu became “Revelation of the year”.

Svetlana Saenko entered into the top of the best athletes from Moldova thanks to the performance at various international wrestling tournaments, including the XXX edition of the Olympic Games in London, where she ranked in the top 10 athletes. This year, warrant officer Svetlana Saenko, coached by vice world champion, Victor Peicov, won the silver medal at the Olympic qualifying tournament, held in Taiyuan, and third place at the International Tournament in France.

According to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, sergeant Victor Ceobanu, Greco-Roman style wrestler, who became vice world junior champion at the competitions held in the city of Pattaya, Thailand, was named “The Revelation of the year” in the national sport of performance.

Among the winners in the Sports Gala, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is also included the Minister of Defense, Vitalie Marinuţa, who has been mentioned with a special diploma in order to promote sport performance.

This year, National Army athletes took part in over 100 national and international competitions, and in most cases became winners. The best military athletes, at both Olympic and technical probes, were awarded within the Military Sports Gala organized by the management of the institution on December 19th, 2012.
