National Army Soldiers Take Part in “Environmental Fortnight 2013” Event

CHISINAU, March 7, 2013 — 30 soldiers of Stefan cel Mare Brigade participated in the cleaning actions of Valea Morilor park as part of the Environmental Fortnight 2013 event, held in Chisinau.

LTC Mariana Grama, Head of Ecological and Environmental Protection Division of the National Army Logistics Command, at the request of the Chisinau local public authorities, soldiers gathered and evacuated garbage from the waterfall stairs of Valea Morilor park.

Galina Leahu, Deputy Chief of the municipal enterprise “Green Spaces Management Association”, thanked Stefan cel Mare Brigade soldiers for help. She said their involvement should be followed by the citizens of Chisinau too. The military have responded to a wide variety of requests from the local public administration of the capital city. Therefore, our cooperation with the National Army has already become a tradition", the representative of the mayoralty said.

LTC Grama said that in March-April, soldiers will participate in the cleaning actions of Chisinau, Balti, Ungheni and Cahul parks. At the same time, they will clean Valea Morilor park from Chisinau, the areas next to their military units, as well as the forest situated near the Ministry of Defense building.

In 2012, over 600 National Army soldiers gathered about 120 tons of garbage as part of the national cleaning campaign.
