„Pe meleagurile natale” Contest Designates Winners

CHISINAU, June 20, 2013 — Recruits from Cantemir district won the Cup of “Pe meleagurile natale” (On Native Lands) regional Contest, held in Brigade “Dacia”, Cahul.

The event was conducted by the Military Territorial Center of Cahul and the District Council of the town. The contest brought together two teams of young recruits from Cahul and Cantemir districts.

The competition consisted of the following tests: 100 m and 1000 m distance running, push ups, grenade throw, weight lifting, assembling and disassembling guns, rope pulling and square-bashing.

According to the Commander of the Military-Territorial Center of Cahul, LTC Snejana Nitrean, such activities aim at promoting military service and building the National Army’s positive image in the society. “Participants at the regional competition demonstrated good physical condition, being encouraged by their comrades from Brigade ‘Dacia’, relatives and friends. We are proud of the performances of these young people that will be conscripted soon to military units”, LTC Nitrean said.

The republican contest “Pe meleagurile natale” will be held in August, at Military Training Ground Bulboaca. The event will bring together teams of recruits from 12 military territorial centers of the country.
