Military Education System Discussed at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, July 9, 2013 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuţa met today with a group of experts of NATO Standardization Agency, to discuss about the dynamic character of implementation of the educational modernization plan of Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”.

During the meeting, the parties discussed about the results of the modernization process of the institution and 2014 military education goals. Therefore, Minister Vitalie Marinuta applied for NATO experts’ assistance in terms of development and implementation of a Western-based curriculum for PhD degree in the defense area, as well as the extension of cooperation in the military training field.

NATO officials pointed out the excellent dynamic of the development of Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun” over the past few years. The experts made a review of the activities carried out within in the development of curriculum for Master’s studies, training of teaching staff of the academy at NATO School in Germany, development of distance learning advanced system by carrying out negotiations with the Partnership for Peace (PfP) Consortium Community.

The modernization process of Military Academy started in 2009, as part of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) and is designed to insure the transition to Western educational standards.
