„Moldova” Brigade Has a New Commander



CHISINAU, July 29, 2013 — LTC Ghenadie Nitrean was appointed to the position of interim commander of “Moldova” Brigade from Balti, through the Defense Minister’s order.

The new commander was presented during a meeting held in Balti, that brought together heads of Ministry’s of Defense and Main Staff’s divisions, Land Force and Air Force Commands, as well as Logistics Command.

Before the new assignment, LTC Nitrean commanded the Independent Supply Battalion and graduated from National Defense University “Carol I” from Bucharest.

Minister of Defense asked the new commander to show responsibility in his further activity and actively engage in the unit problem settlement.

In Balti, the Defense Minister, along with representatives of the Ministry of Defense and National Army Main Staff, inspected Moldova Brigade, and discussed the results during a summing-up meeting. The most serious problems of the unit were gaps in the selection process of recruits, psychological assistance, accommodation and equipment supply. Vitalie Marinuta asked for a detailed analysis of the identified problems and their quick resolution.

The inspection in Balti is part of a complex measure plan designed to improve the situation in the National Army.

The same day, LTC Veaceslav Rusu was appointed to the position of Head of Staff of Moldova Brigade, based on the Defense Minister’s order.
