Children Learn About Army

CHISINAU, August 9, 2013 — Summer camp “Romantica” from Moscovei village, Cahul, hosted the military-patriotic event “Children learn about army”, conducted by the Military Territorial Center, in common with Dacia Brigade, General Division of Education and local public authorities.

Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta pointed out the importance of cooperation among the organizations dealing with the education of the young generation. The minister focused on the practical activities that children usually participate at during such events, “Children of today are soldiers of tomorrow. Their engagement in activities conducted by the army raises their awareness of military values and insures our existence in the military system of the country”, Vitalie Marinuta said.

200 children spending their holidays at Summer Camp “Romantica” assembled and disassembled submachine guns, practiced rope pulling, as well as fired a pneumatic weapon. They also competed at wrestling, being assisted by servicemembers of Dacia Brigade.

According to LTC Snejana Nitrean, commander of Military Territorial Center of Cahul, this is the first time when children from the district are engaged in such activities that teach them about the military. “The only contest was the drawing competition and the most talented participants received gifts on behalf of the Ministry of Defense”, the Commander of the military territorial center from the South of the country stated.
