Moldovan Military Visit Denmark

CHISINAU, August 21, 2013 — A group of National Army servicemembers are inspecting, during August 19-23, military units of Kingdom of Denmark, in compliance with the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE Treaty).

According to LTC Andrei Camerzan, Deputy Chief of Weapons Division of the National Army Logistics Command, the visit aims at familiarizing Moldovan military with some practical means of implementation of international weapons control treaties and conventions ratified by the OSCE member states and exchange of experience.

The quoted source mentioned that the nine Moldovan servicemembers would inspect the Land Force Training Center of Holstebro and MERLIN helicopter Squadron based in Karup.

In 2010, The Danish Defense Command, in common with the National Army, started inspecting each others’ units, in compliance with CFE Treaty.

CFE Treaty, signed in Paris, on November 1990, establishes legal limits on five key categories of conventional military equipment in Europe (combat vehicles, combat armored vehicles, artillery, military aircrafts and combat helicopters), as well as the exchange of information and detailed notification, as well as unexpected inspections in military units of participating states.

Republic of Moldova ratified CFE Treaty in July 1992.
