Parachute Jumps in Marculesti

Chisinau, September 10, 2013 — Special Forces Troops of the National Army make parachute jumps at Airbase “Decebal” in Marculesti during September 10-11.

According to Commander of Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, Maj. Sergiu Cirimpei, on the first day of training, the servicemembers of the unit made free fall and static line parachute jumps from an airplane AN-2 of the National Army, flying with 120 km/h speed at altitudes of 3,000 m and 1,200 m.

Maj. Cirimpei specified that this is the 3rd phase of the Special Forces Qualification Course. “The third parachute jumps represent certification, according to which servicemembers are awarded the title of ‘military paratrooper’ and gives them the right to wear a brevet and the paratrooper insignia. The paratrooper certification implies training of practical skills by making three jumps”, Maj. Cirimpei said.

The quoted source said that, these days, the servicemembers of Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” will make more than 80 jumps using using MC-5 parachute systems made in USA.

This year, paratroopers of “Fulger” have made more than 600 jumps, including by using weapons.
