Conscripts Get to Know their Rights

Chisinau, September 11, 2013 — The Ministry of Defense, in common with “Promo-LEX” Association, carry out during September 11-25, the project "“Combating Conscripts’Rights Violation in Republic of Moldova by raising awareness on legal issues”, that aims at familiarizing conscripts with their rights.

According to LTC Alexandru Dragomir, Personnel Division, all the National Army units will host seminars on raising conscripts’ knowledge level in the legal area. “Soldiers enlisted for up to six months will find out information about their rights and obligations, by using concrete cases. I believe these seminars are very useful, because conscripts need to know their rights”, Dragomir stated.

The director of Human Rights Program, Promo-LEX Association, Alexandru Postica, specified that the project includes a course on human rights. “We want soldiers to know more about what to do if their or their comrades’ rights are violated, in order to be able to prevent it”, Alexandru Postica said.

Within this project 1500 guides on conscripts’ human rights will be distributed and 350 posters will be developed to show what a conscript should do in case his rights have been violated.
