National Army EOD Engineers Dispose About 400 Explosive Devices in Stefan Voda District


Chisinau, October 7, 2013 — On Sunday, October 6, National Army EOD engineers disposed 400 explosive devices, discovered by a citizen of Slobozia village, Stefan Voda, while performing digging works in his courtyard.

According to Maj. Nicolae Teleghin, specialist, EOD Division of the National Army, the EOD engineers, led by identified at the very place 123 60 mm bomb thrower bombs, 82 bomb warheads, 2 F-1 hand grenades, 162 bullets and 31 smoke grenades. All the ammunition was made in the Soviet Union and dated back to World War II. Then, the explosive devices were removed and destroyed.

The same day, EOD engineers were called in to Purcari village, Stefan Voda, to identify and dispose an RG-42 hand grenade.

In the first week of October, the EOD engineers located, identified, neutralized, recovered and destroyed 406 explosive devices in Anenii Noi, Cantemir, Soldanesti and Stefan Voda districts.

This year, National Army EOD engineers were called in 136 times and disposed 1692 explosive devices throughout the country.
