CHISINAU, October 9, 2013 — The Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Col. Igor Gorgan, met with the defense attaché of Kingdom of Sweden to Republic of Moldova, based in Kiev, Col. Hakan Hedstrom. The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between the two armies and achievements in modernization and reform of the defense and security sector.

Col. Igor Gorgan spoke about the cooperation between the Kingdom of Sweden and Republic of Moldova in the defense and security areas, with a focus on performances of National Army servicemembers in world peacekeeping operations, multinational exercises in Germany, Ukraine, Romania and the Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) certification. “For Moldovan troops, the main goal is the further participation in international peacekeeping operations, for we are already prepared for that. We demonstrated our readiness for world peacekeeping missions after being certified by international experts”, Igor Gorgan said.

The defense attaché of Sweden appreciated Republic of Moldova’s commitment to maintaining and promoting world security by taking part in pacekeeping missions. The official also revealed the attitude of dedication in the military political bilateral dialogue and expressed his certainty that these relations will keep developing.
