Obsolete Pesticides Repacked for Disposal



CHISINAU, October 17, 2013 — An operational team of the National Army started preparing pesticides from Rodina Nova storehouse, Taraclia, for transportation outside the country.

According to the Head of Ecological and Environment Protection Section of the National Army, LTC Mariana Grama, within October 15 — November 12, National Army servicemembers will repack, stack on pallets and label about 170 tons of obsolete pesticides.

The quoted source stated that, on October 21, the first amount of toxic pesticides will be exported to Poland through Ukraine. The pesticides will be destroyed through burning in Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland.

The works are performed as part of NATO/Partnership for Peace Project on disposal of dangerous pesticides and chemicals in Republic of Moldova.
