Moldovan –British Cooperation discussed at the Ministry of Defense



Chisinau, November 20, 2013 — Defense Minister, Vitalie Marinuta met today at the Ministry of Defense with the ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Chisinau, Philip David Batson. The event was attended by the UK defense attaché accredited to the Republic of Moldova, based in Kiev, Col. Burnell Geremy.

The officials discussed major issues on the military cooperation agenda, including identification of the best ways of obtaining British assistance and consultancy in the Moldovan Defense institution reform and linguistics training process.

The United Kingdom is an important partner for Republic of Moldova and the National Army benefits from its support in the military area. I would like to mention the assistance provided in in the development and implementation of the Strategic Defense Review by the British experts, implementation of reforms on the improvement and modernization of defense state institutions", the Minister of Defense noted.

Ambassador Batson underlined the importance of bilateral cooperation and expressed his country’s availability to keep supporting the defense reform which is a significant aspect in the Republic of Moldova’s European integration process.

The officials also discussed the Ministry’s of Defense strategic documents and the participation of the Republic of Moldova in international missions.
