National Army Servicemembers Train in Domestic Violence Prevention



Chisinau, November 28, 2013 — Domestic violence and its prevention were the basic issues of the workshop “Strategies to deal with domestic violence cases” held today, in Brigade “Dacia” from Cahul, within the campaign “16 days of activism against violence in Republic of Moldova ”. The event was attended by 30 unit soldiers .

According to LTC of Justice Alexandru Roman, Human Resource Management Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the goal of the workshop is to train and raise National Army servicemembers’ awareness on preventing domestic violence and violence against women.

The attendees were familiarized with the legislation on domestic violence victims’ protection, ways of preventing domestic violence, as well as psychological tools and methods to prevent interpersonal and family conflicts.

The source specified that 70 other soldiers of Brigade “Moldova”, Balti, and Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” will also be trained soon, within similar workshops.

The Campaign “16 days of activism against violence in Republic of Moldova ” is carried out within November 25 — December 10, 2013, in common with the Ministry of Labor, Family and Social Protection (MLFSP), with the support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova and non-governmental organization Gender Center from the country.
