Republic of Moldova and Serbia to Sign Defense Cooperation Agreement


Chisinau, December 3, 2013 — Minister of Defense of Republic of Moldova, Vitalie Marinuta, will pay an official visit to Serbia during December 4-5, at the invitation of his counterpart, Nebojca Rodic, within which the Defense Cooperation Agreement between the two states will be signed.

According to the Head of the Defense Policy and Planning Directorate (DPAPA), Vlad Ababii, the visit agenda consists of bilateral meetings between the two officials, talks on the establishment of long-term defense and security cooperation relations between the two military institutions of Moldova and Serbia, military science and technical equipment, military education and training, military medicine and economy as well as other areas of mutual interest.

In Belgrad, Vitalie Marinuta will meet with Dusan Bajatovic, the Chairman of the Defense and Internal Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia, Snezana Jankovic, State secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other officials.

The Moldovan delegation will visit the University of Defense of Serbia, the Peacekeeping Training Center, to familiarize with the training and activity program of these institutions, and the State Enterprise “Yugoimport-SDPR” specialized in military equipments.

So far, Republic of Moldova has signed defense cooperation agreements with 22 states of the world, including USA, Romania, Russia, China, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, Turkey, France, Poland and others.
