One More Group of Moldovan Peacekeepers Ready for Missions in the Security Zone



BALTI, December 13, 2013 — 150 National Army servicemembers completed the training exercise for peacekeeping missions in the Security Zone, as part of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPKF), held at the Training Ground of Moldova Brigade. The exercise “Under Clear Sky-2013” lasted three days.

The Chief of Main Staff, Commander of the National Army, Col. Igor Gorgan, appreciated the readiness of soldiers that will be deployed to the security Zone in the following six months, as part of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPKF). “You are ready to do your military service within peacekeeping forces. I know that from your commanders, that have prepared your for this missions for four months. Today, you demonstrated that you are ready to take over the responsibilities of your comrades from the National Army units in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova”, Col. Gorgan said.

According to the commander of the exercise, LTC Ghenadie Nitrean, soldiers carried out tactical peacekeeping missions at six training sites, including patrol, prisoner release, evacuation of the wounded, rejection of attack, and EOD identification.

The soldiers tested within “Under Clear Sky — 2013” will be deployed to Moldovan peacekeeping units from Cocieri, Cosnita and Varnita.

About 150 other conscripts, that served in the JPKF in the Security Zone over the past six months were demobilized. 30 best soldiers were awarded the Honors Servicemember insignia, diplomas and gifts on behalf of the Ministry’s of Defense leadership.

The rotation of Joint Peacekeeping Forces staff is held twice a year.
