Battalion “Fulger” – Best Military Unit of 2013
Chisinau, December 24, 2013 — Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” was declared the best unit of the National Army in 2013, for performances in combat readiness, training process and military discipline. Brigade “Dacia” from Cahul and the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion were the second and the third.
The results were announced within a training year completion ceremony, that brought together representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Main Staff of the National Army.
Defense Minister, Vitalie Marinuta offered the Winner’s Cup to the Commander of Battalion “Fulger” and congratulated the personnel of the three units on their accomplishments.
The Minister of Defense appreciated the efforts of the military and civil staff of the National Army in the achievement of the current goals of the defense institution, at the national and international levels. “Your contribution was very important, and together we managed to get what we wanted — a better army, better trained to fulfill the established missions. In the coming year, I wish you to have more health, luck, happiness and confidence in a prosperous future”, Vitalie Marinuta told the audience.
At the same time, Deputy Minister of Defense, Igor Panfile, awarded a group of servicemembers with “Service to Fatherland” medal, the “Cross of Merit” “Distinguished Service” Cross, and the Honors Servicemember insignia.
About 100 servicemembers were awarded within ceremonies held in all the garrisons of the National Army to mark the completion of the training year.
