Public Servants To Study Current National Security Issues



Chisinau, January 9, 2014 — The Ministry of Defense conducts, within January 6 — April 18, the Postgraduate Professional Development Course in Defense and National Security “Current National Security Issues”.

The military-political course, conducted by the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” is designed for officials, public servants, representatives of the civil society, NGOs responsible for development and security and defense policies.

Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta stated that this course is held because of the need to understand the security and defense sector better, which is an important area in the Republic of Moldova.

“It is essential to be aware of the fact that the reform of the security and defense sector is not only the Defense Ministry’s responsibility. This problem also involves a variety of government institutions such as: Security Intelligence Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Supreme Security Council and other non-governmental organizations. That’s why, it is important for all the parties to be aware of their role in joining their efforts to achieve this goal. This course, carried out with our foreign experts’ support, will definitely be of great use to those who wish to get deep knowledge in this important area”, Minister Marinuta said.

According to the Commander of Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun”, Col. Mihail Buclis, the course is equivalent to national postgraduate education and covers theoretical and practical approaches on the national and international security.

The quoted source said that 31 representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Security Intelligence Service and Promo-LEX Association had applied for the course, that will be taught by national and foreign academic experts in charge of security and defense issues.
