Ready for a New Challenge in Hohenfels

Chisinau, January 10, 2014 — The Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Col. Igor Gorgan, inspected today the military contingent to take part at “Mission Readiness Exercise (MRE), within January 14 — February 26, that will be held at Hohenfels Military Training Ground, Germany.

Col. Igor Gorgan checked the equipment and discussed with the officers and non-commissioned officers from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, selected to represent the National Army at the exercise this year.

The National Army Commander revealed his satisfaction with the logistics supply of the military group. Col. Gorgan said that they are still expected to show high performance, as they did before. “You have the necessary training and experience that you acquired in classrooms and training fields, and this will definitely help you in carrying out your tasks in Hohenfels”, Col. Gorgan said.

In Germany, the Moldovan servicemembers, along with the American, Slovenian and Romanian partners, will carry out joint operations of patrol, escort, movement, transportation and support.

“Mission Readiness Exercise” is conducted by the United States European Command. Its aim is to assess the readiness of subunits for troop rotation in international missions.

The National Army has been participating at German exercises since 2012.
