American Experience for Moldovan Servicemembers

Chisinau, February 12, 2014 — A group of servicemembers of National Army Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” visited Albemarle, North Carolina, USA, within February 4-11.

The visit, conducted in compliance with the 2014 Moldovan-American bilateral cooperation plan, aimed at studying the training conditions of the Special Forces of the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG).

The group, conducted by Commander of Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, Maj. Sergiu Cirimpei, visited some military units of the American Special Forces. They also had a meeting with the NCNG Commander, Maj.Gen. Gregory Lusk, within which they discussed about the implementation of the actions established by the Memorandum of Agreement on establishment of Partner Units between the two defense institutions.

The Memorandum, signed in May 2013, focuses on expanding security and defense cooperation relations between Republic of Moldova and USA, fostering interpersonal relationships among junior officers and Moldovan and American Non-Commissioned Officers, as well as promoting mutual understanding of the units of the above defense institutions.

The document establishes three partnerships among a few units of the National Army and NCNG, including Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”.
