Moldovan Flag Raised in ”Camp Vilaggio Italia” from Kosovo



Kosovo, March 11, 2014 — The National Flag of the Republic of Moldova was raised, on Monday, March 10, in the multinational base “Camp Vilaggio Italy”, from Pech village, Kosovo., The ceremony, that marked the arrival of the Moldovan contingent, was attended by all the troops of the Multinational Battle Group — West (MNBG-W) serving in the area of ​​responsibility.

According to Commander of the Moldovan contingent in KFOR Mission, LTC Roman Ceban, upon their arrival to Kosovo, the Moldovan servicemembers started preparing for the mission and got acquainted with the situation in the area of ​​responsibility and with missions they will have to fulfill.

The quoted source specified that, after the training and adjustment meetings are over, the Moldovan servicemembers, along with other contingents, will carry out patrol and guard missions in the area of responsibility.

Republic of Moldova deployed a contingent of 41 servicemembers to KFOR Mission from Kosovo. 33 of them will carry out security, guard and patrol missions. The contingent is also made up of a team of 7 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) engineers and one KFOR HQ Staff Officer. The decision to deploy a military contingent to Kosovo was approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, on November 1, 2013. The Moldovan servicemembers flew to Kosovo, on March 8.
