Moldovan – Italian Defense Cooperation Discussed at the Ministry of Defense

Chisinau, April 9, 2014 — Defense Minister, Valeriu Troenco, met with the Italian ambassador to Chisinau, Enrico Nunziata.

The officials discussed about the current bilateral relations in the military sector, focusing on the joint participation in international peacekeeping missions, as well as identification of some cooperation perspectives in the area.

Valeriu Troenco thanked the Italian official for supporting the reform process of the defense institution and the logistics support provided to the Moldovan contingent recently deployed in KFOR Mission. “We appreciate your country’s efforts in supporting the National Army, including the assistance provided to our contingent in Kosovo. We count on your support both, in the defense area, as well as in other public domains”, Defense Minister said.

Enrico Nunziata congratulated Valeriu Troenco on his assignment and wished him success in his tenure. The Italian ambassador also appreciated the successful performance of the Moldovan contingent within Task Force of the Italian mission KFOR.

At the end of the meeting, the officials appreciated the opportunity to exchange opinions about the further development of bilateral relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Italy, as well as the possibility to identify some new cooperation projects.
