EOD Engineers Dispose, in April, About 100 Explosive DevicesChisinau, May 5, 2014 — National Army EOD engineers disposed, in April, 101 explosive devices in Soldanesti, Cantemir, Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi, Hincesti, Ungheni, Cahul, Balti, Comrat and Falesti districts. According to Maj. Nicolae Teleghin, specialist within EOD Division of the National Army, the largest amount of ammunition was discovered on April 29, in the forest near village Mingir, Hincesti. The EOD team of Engineer Battalion “Codru”, commanded by Cpt. Alexandru Muntean, identified 24 bomb launcher bombs of 81mm, three antitank and antipersonnel mines, four grenade launchers grenades, one 100 mm artillery projectile, one F-1 hand-grenade, and two antipersonnel and antitank grenades. All the 36 explosive devices of German origin dated back to Second World War. This year, the National Army EOD engineers were called in 68 times to carry out disposal missions and destroyed 269 explosive devices throughout the country.
