Over 500 Soldiers Take Military Oath



Chisinau, May 30, 2014 — Over 500 soldiers, enlisted this year in the National Army, took their military oath, within a ceremony held today at Military Compound 142, Chisinau garrison.

Minister of Defense, Valeriu Troenco, congratulated the 534 soldiers on their most important life event — the military oath. Minister Troenco appreciated their performance within the course of basic military training. “I was told that you became a strong team, and the spirit of friendship helped you learn the basic terms and face the challenges. I want to congratulate and encourage you to continue your military service with commitment and responsibility, as the military rules demand”, Valeriu Troenco said.

The Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Col. Igor Gorgan, welcomed in the National Army those who would like to join the contract-based service, after they complete their mandatory military service.

At the end of the ceremony, the conscripts from the Guard Battalion of the National Army presented weapon handling exercise.

After the event, the soldiers will get a four-day leave. Then, they will be distributed to all the National Army units.

The mandatory military service in the National Army lasts 12 months.
