Postgraduate Studies in Security and Defense at Military AcademyCHISINAU, January 19, 2015 — Minister of Defense Valeriu Troenco attended today the opening ceremony of the Postgraduate Course in national security and defense “Current problems of national security”, organized by the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun ‘(AMFA). Valeriu Troenco said that these studies are vital in the current security environment, and the presence of representatives of governmental and non-governmental institutions dealing with security and defense issues, fully demonstrates these statements.’ I hope that you will be the ones to change people’s attitude towards security, which covers much more than the military issues,” the Minister of Defense said. According Commander-rector of AMFA, Colonel Mihail Buclis, the course is equivalent to national postgraduate studies and aims to establish cooperation between different institutions in order to strengthen security and defense sector. The source said that the studies are intended for dignitaries, leading civil servants and civil society representatives, graduates of higher civil or military educational institutions, who are currently in leadership positions or intend to apply for such positions in the future and be in charge of state defense and security policy development. The course is based on the curriculum of the National Defense College from Romania, UK, France, USA, Canada, Poland, Germany, Italy and Estonia. It covers a wide range of topics, from international relations to the community strategies and policies of the European Union. According to Colonel Buclis, the Commander-rector of AMFA added that the participants will also visit central public authorities HQs, military units and other facilities of the country such as Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, the Port of Giurgiulesti, international airports in the Republic of Moldova and strategic customs points. The postgraduate course in national security and defense is free and is taking place between January 19 and April 24, 2015.
