National Army Peacekeepers Trained for the Security Zone



CHISINAU, February 11, 2015 — Within February 9-20, the continuous training center of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” conducts a training course for the service members who will serve in the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPF) in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova.

The course is attended by 26 soldiers, active-duty sergeants and NCOs from the three National Army motorized infantry brigades, and is held at the training center of “Moldova” Brigade from Balti.

According to the Interim Head of the National Army continuous training center, Maj. Viorel Sirghi, the course lasts two weeks and comprises theoretical and practical sessions on convoy techniques, crowd control, patrol, negotiations, staff actions at checkpoints, Dniester War history, as well as psychological and military-medical training of the peacekeepers.

“The participants familiarize with the military service in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova, duties at the joint peacekeeping checkpoints, rights and obligations of the military deployed in the Security Zone, carrying out service following the instructions, the ability to make decisions in difficult situations under the influence of different factors while being on duty at joint peacekeeping checkpoints”, said Maj. Sirghi.

Since 2010, the training courses for the National Army soldiers who are to conduct missions at the joint peacekeeping checkpoints in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova are held four times a year.
