Demining Missions in AprilCHISINAU, May 5, 2015 — In April, the National Army EOD engineers neutralized 19 explosive objects in different regions of the Republic of Moldova. According to LTC Serghei Chilivnic, specialist, EOD Division of the National Army, in this period, the EOD engineers were called in 18 times in Anenii Noi, Cantemir, Dubasari, Stefan Voda, and Telenesti districts, as well as in Chisinau. The source specified that, on April 18, the National Army engineers’ help was requiredin Slobozia village, Stefan Voda district, where they found two artillery projectiles of 76 mm caliber. The EOD engineers were also called in to Tirsitei village, Telenesti district and Pohrebea village, Dubasari district, to destroy a bomb-launcher bomb of 82 mm caliber and, respectively, an artillery projectile of 100 mm caliber. LTC Chilivnic mentioned that all the explosives found in these villages dated back to World War II and were destroyed under maximum security conditions. This year, the National Army EOD engineers disposed of 122 explosive objects throughout the country.
