Security Sector Reform Discussed in Garmish



CHISINAU, May 7, 2015 — The Minister of Defense, together with representatives of other government institutions, attended the “Security Sector Reform” Seminar held within May 4-7, at George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies from Garmish, Germany.

The activity aimed to analyze the national progress on the security reform, to evaluate the threats to the national security, the roles and engagement of different decision making factors in the National Security Strategy review.

During the Seminar, the participants also discussed about the best practices in the field, the importance of the public-private partnership on cyber security, as well as the importance of the defense and security reform in the European integration context.

The “Security Sector Reform” Seminar brought together Members of Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the Supreme Security Council, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, and the Intelligence and Security Service.

The Seminar is an initiative of the US Office of Military Cooperation in Republic of Moldova, in cooperation with the Academic Forum of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies.
