National Army Servicemembers at Multinational Exercises in Germany and Romania



CHISINAU, June 16, 2015 — A National Army contingent participates, between June 10-30, at the “Mission Readiness Exercise” (MRE), held at the military training center in Hohenfels, Germany.

The exercise is organized by the United States European Command and has the goal to assess the subunits’ readiness for troops rotation within international peacekeeping missions.

According to Capt. Victor Trohin, Moldovan contingent commander, the National Army deployed 41 professional servicemembers to the exercise. They are from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, “Moldova” Brigade, Engineer Battalion, Guard Battalion, and Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”.

The source specified that the Moldovan officers and NCOs will carry out, together with colleagues from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, USA, Ukraine, and Hungary, missions of patrol, medical evacuation, guarding of checkpoints. There are also practical exercises in searching IEDs, and evacuation of wounded from the minefield.

The National Army has been participating at exercises in Germany since 2012.

Also, within June 16-26, another National Army contingent participates at the multinational exercise “ROUSOFEX 15” held in Constanta, Romania.

ROUSOFEX 15 brings together about 1,500 servicemembers from Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, USA, and Turkey. Its goal is the training of servicemmebrs from Special Opeations Forces in planning, organization, command and execution of an independent special operation.
