Delegation of NATO Defense College Pays Study Visit to Republic of Moldova

CHISINAU, June 22, 2015 — A delegation of NATO Defense College pays a study visit to Republic of Moldova within June 21-22.

The members of the delegation, led by Major Gen. Janusz Bojarski, Commander of the institution, attended a meeting at Ministry of Defense HQ. State Secretary of Ministry of Defense, Aurel Fondos, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and of the Bureau of Reintegration of the State Chancellery were also present at the meeting.

At the beginning of the event, Aurel Fondos stated that the activity aims at familiarizing representatives of NATO Defense College with Moldova’s goals on the defense and security system reformation and modernization. “I hope for these discussions to be productive and to offer a comprehensive view on the matter. This will definitely help you in the research process”, said Aurel Fondos.

General Maj. Janusz Bojarski highlighted the importance of the visit of the 93 participants at the course for high rank officers to Republic of Moldova. General Maj. Bojarski said that the visit ensures a better knowledge of the security and defense sector of our country, as well as an exchange of opinions on the subject.

At the event, the participants discussed about the current Republic of Moldova-NATO cooperation, the security and defense sector, and its possibilities of reformation. They also regarded the two initiatives to which Republic of Moldova adhered at NATO 2014 Summit — the Defense Building Capacity Initiative and the Interoperability Platform.
