Working Visit at Military Unit from CocieriCHISINAU, July 7, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, and Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, paid today a working visit to the 1st independent infantry battalion of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces from Cocieri village, Dubasari district. Viorel Cibotaru and Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan familiarized with Moldovan peacekeepers’ activities and training conditions, as well as with unit’s infrastructure. Thus, they checked the Battalion’s barrack, the recently inaugurated gym, and the unit’s canteen that is to be renovated in 2015. Then, the Minister of Defense and the National Army Commander visited the Memorial for the Heroes of the 1992 war and the foundation stone of the future monument of Stefan cel Mare si Sfint in Cocieri. The 1st independent infantry battalion of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces was established on July 29, 1992. |
