President Nicolae Timofti Presents New Minister of Defense to Ministry’s Officers and Employees

CHISINAU, July 31, 2015 — President of Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, visited today, July 31, the Ministry of Defense, where he presented the new Minister of Defense, Anatolie Salaru, to the officers and employees of the institution.

During the official event, the President stated the necessity of operational capacity building of the Army and its modernization in the new regional security context.

Nicolae Timofti also underlined the need to develop defense capacity of the Army through cooperation with other security institutions of our country, as well as with NATO member states.

President Timofti expressed his confidence that the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense will continue the ongoing reforms and will defend the interests and projects of Republic of Moldova with commitment and honor.

President Nicolae Timofti thanked the former Minister, Viorel Cibotaru, for having contributed to the adjustment of the Army to the new international standards and the modernization of the institution.

At the end of the ceremony, President Timofti handed to Mr. Anatolie Salaru the Standard of Ministry of Defense, established by Presidential Decree on June 17, 2014. The President handed a copy of the Standard to the former Minister, Viorel Cibotaru.
