UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security to the Attention of Government Institutions



CHISINAU, October 23, 2015 — The representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Ministry of Labor, Social protection, and Family, as well as of the UN Women Mission to Moldova, OSCE Mission to Moldova, NATO IDC in Moldova, and Gender-Centru participated in the second meeting of the process of inter-institutional self-assessment through gender dimension in the security and defense sector, held on October 22, at the NIDC HQ.

The working meeting’s agenda was centered on such issues as:(1) establish the deadlines of the Joint Action Plan, (2) presentation by the institutions participating in the self-assessment process of the assistance needs in developing the survey, (3) assistance proposals by UN Women Mission and OSCE Mission.

Deputy Defense Minister, Gheorghe Galbura, stressed the necessity to implement the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on the role of women in ensuring peace and security in our country.

The participants established that, until the next working meeting that will be hosted by the NIDC on October 29, the institutions participating in the self-assessment process will start developing the survey according to their responsibility. The institutions will also identify the areas that need assistance, in order to be submitted to the experts of UN Women, OSCE, and Gender-Centru.

The inter-institutional self-assessment survey on the gender dimension in the national security and defense sector will be the base for the development of the National action plan regarding the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
