CHISINAU, February 17, 2016 — Interim Chief of the National Army General Staff, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, met today with the military attaché of Turkey to the Republic of Moldova, Col. Can Sabitay.

The discussions were centered on military cooperation and the prospects of reinforcing the bilateral relations.

Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie thanked the military attaché for the assistance offered by the Republic of Turkey in training Moldovan officers in Turkish military institutions, including the Partnership for Peace Training Center in Ankara.

Col. Can Sabitay appreciated the interest of the National Army leadership to continue the military cooperation by identifying fruitful projects for the armies of Turkey and the Republic of Moldova. Also, the Turkish official mentioned that his country will keep providing scholarships for Moldovan officers at the Military Academy Kara Harp Okulu, where a student from the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” is currently studying.

The Moldovan-Turkish military cooperation is based on the Military Cooperation Agreement signed in November, 1998.
