Moldovan-Romanian Meeting at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, April 12, 2016 — Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru met today with His Excellency, Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Marius Lazurca.

The main subjects of the meeting were the bilateral partnership progress, concrete steps to be taken in order to establish a NATO liaison office in Chisinau, and the regional situation.

Once more, the Minister of Defense expressed his gratitude for the support offered by Romania to the Republic of Moldova in reforming the National Army. Anatol Salaru highlighted Romania’s contribution as a leading nation within the project of dangerous pesticides and chemicals disposal on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and expressed his hope that this project will continue.

Ambassador Marius Lazurca underlined the importance of the NATO project on pesticides disposal, considered one the most important achievements of the latest period.

In the context of National Army goals implementation, His Excellency mentioned Romania’s availability to help the Republic of Moldova establish a NATO Liaison Office as an important step of the National Army reformation.

At the end of the meeting, the officials agreed to continue the bilateral talks in order to successfully achieve the joint agenda goals.

As a sign of gratitude for active engagement and support, Minister Anatol Salaru awarded His Excellency Marius Lazurca with the National Army medal “For Strengthening the Brotherhood in Arms”.
