Military Exercise “Dragoon Pioneer 2016” – First Time in Moldova (Video)

CHISINAU, April 28, 2016 — The soldiers of the National Army and the US Army will participate in the “Dragoon Pioneer 2016” exercise within May 3-20, 2016. The exercise is conducted in Moldova for the first time.

“Dragoon Pioneer 2016” will bring together 198 soldiers of the 2^nd Cavalry Regiment of the US Army and 165 soldiers of the EOD Battalion, the 22^nd Peacekeeping Battalion, as well as from Brigades 1, 2, and 3 of the National Army. The exercise’s aim is to insure the joint training of the EOD units and raise the level of interoperability between the two armies.

The exercise will take place at the EOD Battalion and the Training Center of “Moldova” Brigade and will include the training of National Army and US Army troops on EOD research, fortification works, passing over obstacles, establishing a way to cross the water, carrying out works of disposal, survival, while providing logistics in field conditions, with first aid and evacuation of the wounded.

At “Dragoon Pioneer 2016” the troops will use 58 EOD and supply vehicles of the US Army, while the National Army will contribute 40 EOD and supply vehicles.

The American vehicles will enter Moldovan territory on May 2, 2016 through Sculeni checkpoint and will travel on the national road M14, following the route Sculeni-Falesti-Negresti.
