Military-Sports Games “Pe Meleagurile Natale” Held for the First Time in Balti



CHISINAU, May 13, 2016 — Over 400 young men from educational institutions from Balti city and Falesti, Glodeni, Sangerei, and Rascani districts participated in the military-sports games “Pe meleagurile natale” (On the Native Land) and “Recruit’s Day” on May 13.

According to Head of Balti Army Recruitment Center, LTC Snejana Nitrean, the competition aims to promote the sports, military traditions, and patriotism among the young generation.

The source mentioned that during the event, the recruits competed in different individual and team competitions, such as: 100 m and 1,000 m distance running, pull ups, hand grenade throw, arm wrestling, heavy-weights lifting, rope pulling, as well as weapons assembly and disassembly.

LTC Nitrean added that first place was won by the team of Vocational School No. 4 from Balti. The second and third places went to the teams of Industrial School and Medicine School from the same city.

The program also included wrestling exercises performed by service members of “Moldova” Brigade from Balti and Carabineer Troops, as well as an exhibition of National Army vehicles and weapons.

The military-sports games “Pe meleagurile natale” were held for the first time in Balti and were organized by the Balti Army Recruitment Center, in cooperation with local public administration and military-administrative departments from the Northern districts of the country.
