Diplomas for National Army Logistics Specialists



CHISINAU, May 23, 2016 — Today, acting Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, awarded merit diplomas to a group of officers and NCOs from the National Army logistics units, during a ceremony marking the Military Logistics Day.

Gen. Cutie said that this sector is crucial for the entire army and referred to the main activities conducted with the support of the logistics staff: training on management of ammunition and weapons stockpile, the NATO/PfP Project on dangerous pesticides and chemicals disposal in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the support for all the exercises and missions involving National Army soldiers.

The National Army logistics activity is controlled by the Directorate of Logistics of the General Staff — a specialized unit responsible for developing and implementing logistic planning policies. The Directorate ensures the act of command and control of logistic support for the National Army military units and the Ministry of Defense institutions.

The directorate also manages, monitors and organizes the distribution of material goods for troopsto ensure the basic activities of the National Army in compliance with strategic plans. It also organizes centralized record-keeping of weapons, military equipment, ammunition, other technical means and material goods.

The Military Logistics Day was established on May 21, 2015 by Order of the Minister of Defense.
